About · Editorial Gabriela at the Spring Mountains office, side window light, no smile
The Practice

Built on relationships, not transactions.

G. Lending began at a kitchen table in Henderson in 2014 — not the suburbs of the brokerage industry, but its quiet front room. Gabriela Méndez had spent ten years at one of the country's largest retail lenders before deciding the work could be done with more composure, and with fewer middlemen. The first three loans were referrals from her real-estate agent. The first three after that were referrals from those clients.

The thesis was modest and remains so: mortgage finance is a deeply personal transaction — the largest most people will ever make — and the right structure deserves a long conversation, not a script. When a buyer feels rushed at the application stage, they will feel rushed at closing. We built the practice to refuse that pace.

"The interesting work happens before the rate sheet — when we understand what the buyer actually wants their next ten years to look like."

By 2018 the practice had grown to a senior team of seven, by 2022 to eleven, and by 2024 to its current sixteen — including loan officers, processors, and a single underwriter who reviews every conventional and jumbo file in-house. We license out to four neighboring states but we remain a Nevada firm. Our office is in the foothills of the Spring Mountains. We answer the phone.

The office library — most files are reviewed here before they cross the underwriter's desk.

The brokerage model lets us shop more than twenty wholesale lenders, which means we are uncommitted to any single product. We recommend the instrument that fits — even when that means walking away from a fee. We measure success in repeat referrals and Christmas cards, both of which arrive in greater number each year.

Our clients are Vegas families, transplanted retirees, military buyers from Nellis and Creech, and the occasional architect refinancing a passion project. They share, broadly, an appreciation for being treated as adults and an indifference to mortgage marketing language. We endeavor to be the lender they describe to their friends in a single sentence: quiet, capable, fast.
